Job Description
Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH), a long-established and highly respected healthcare provider and Federally Qualified Health Center with locations throughout Indian River County, FL is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacist to join our patient care team in delivering excellence in clinical care across our medical sites.
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications, providing patient counseling, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the overall operations of the pharmacy. This role involves working closely with healthcare providers, pharmacy technicians, and patients to ensure the safe and effective use of medications.
This position is a float role and will travel among TCCH locations based on daily staffing needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients.
- Verify prescriptions for accuracy, proper dosage, and potential drug interactions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation of prescriptions and controlled substances.
- Provide medication counseling to patients, including dosage, side effects, and interactions.
- Address patient concerns and answer questions regarding prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
- Support medication adherence programs and educate patients on chronic disease management.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies.
- Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections.
- Monitor for potential medication errors and implement safety measures.
- Work closely with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions and recommend alternative medications when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with pharmacy technicians and support staff to optimize workflow.
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking medications.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of pharmaceutical products.
- Support pharmacy workflow and improve efficiency in dispensing processes.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and possess an active Florida Pharmacist license. A CPR certification is required, and two years of experience is preferred.
