About This Role

The Nephrology Associate Medical Director role is a member of US Medical Affairs, a strategic partner within Biogen, that helps inform medical practice across our therapeutic areas and pipeline to improve meaningful patient outcomes.

As a key member of the US Nephrology Medical Affairs team and reporting to the Nephrology Medical Director, this role is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and execution of the US medical strategy for C3 Glomerulopathy (C3G) and primary Immune Complex Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis (IC-MPGN).

The successful candidate will lead strategic execution across various medical affairs activities, including insight gathering, scientific training, advisory boards, data generation and development of medical resources.

What You’ll Do

Drive and support execution of the US Medical Strategy for pegcetacoplan in nephrology, ensuring alignment of tactical plans with overall medical objectives

Serve as a scientific and strategic subject matter expert for cross-functional stakeholders, including Field Medical, Evidence Generation and HEOR, Pharmacovigilance, Scientific Communications, and Commercial

Develop and implement insight gathering and scientific communication plans including advisory boards, congress strategy, insight assessment and data dissemination activities that address key evidence gaps

Partner cross-functionally to identify and address data, educational and scientific communication gaps, translating stakeholder insights into actional medical strategies and tactical plans

Lead KOL engagement strategy and execution, cultivating relationships with key medical experts, healthcare institutions and professional societies and organizing and facilitating advisory boards and expert engagements

Collaborate with Field Medical and Global Medical Training teams to provide comprehensive medical education and training to internal medical and cross-functional partners, including support of the development of scientific resources, training materials and educational programs

Lead development and/or review of complaint medical content, including presentations, medical briefs, scientific narratives, training materials, FAQs and stakeholder-facing resources in accordance with PRC requirements

Serve as a medical reviewer on cross-functional review committees, ensuring scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, compliance and alignment with medical strategy

Drive the pull through of medical strategy into tactics by conducting Advisory Board meetings, driving evidence generation projects, and contributing to congress publications

Who You Are

You are a scientific or clinical professional with a passion for science and deep scientific knowledge in transplant or glomerular nephrology. You have a marked curiosity about healthcare and business opportunities. You keep patients, payers, and physicians top of mind in your daily work and collaborate to solve critical scientific and business challenges.

Required Skills

MD, PhD, PharmD or comparable advanced degree is required.

Minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with prior work in Headquarters-based Medical Affairs role &/or Field Medical based role. Substitution of industry work with relevant transplant and nephrology clinical practice experience may be considered.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively operate and exert influence within a highly matrixed organization

Preferred Skills

  • Subject matter expertise in transplant or glomerular nephrology is optimal
  • Experience with medical launch as well as products at different stages of the lifecycle
  • Strong working knowledge of US regulations as relevant to Medical Affairs

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate with global, regional and/or affiliate medical to ensure regional activities are executed in alignment with global medical strategy and ensuring the insights and needs from them are known and properly addressed

Ability to manage projects and take initiative to solve complex and challenging problems

Excellent written and oral communication skills to include presentations

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $183,000.00-$252,000.00

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
