Behavioral Health Consultant

Our Weight Management and Metabolic Health office is hiring a full-time Behavioral Health Counselor to join their team! The hours are: Monday-Wednesday 8:00am-4:00pm, Thursday 8:00am-1:00pm, and Friday 8:00am-3:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral health screenings and assessments for patients participating in medical weight management programs.
• Assess psychosocial factors that may affect weight management outcomes, including emotional eating, binge eating behaviors, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma history, sleep disturbances, and adherence barriers.
• Provide short-term, evidence-based behavioral interventions utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and other appropriate techniques.
• Assist patients in developing individualized behavior change goals related to nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and medication adherence.
• Support patients undergoing treatment with anti-obesity medications by identifying and addressing behavioral challenges impacting treatment success.
• Provide counseling and support regarding body image, self-esteem, lifestyle modification, and long-term weight maintenance.
• Conduct individual behavioral health visits related to weight management and healthy lifestyle changes.
• Identify patients requiring specialty mental health, substance use, or eating disorder treatment and facilitate referrals as appropriate.

Compensation: $65,000.00-$89,000.00 annually.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related behavioral health field.

· Must be fully licensed as a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) prior to hire.

· Experience providing behavioral health services to adult populations.

· Experience utilizing evidence-based behavioral interventions, including motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral strategies.

· Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
