Job Description

State-of-the-Art Facilities. Guaranteed Caseload. Doctor Owned.

Join us now and transition into our brand-new facility in 2026!

Catskill Veterinary Services is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Surgeon to join our team. As the primary referral hub for Sullivan County and the Hudson Valley, we offer a rare opportunity: the ability to practice high-level surgery in a private practice setting that rivals corporate specialty centers in capability and caseload.

You have the credentials. You have the skills. You don't need to worry about the tools—we have that covered. We are looking for a surgeon ready to step into a fully equipped, high-volume environment.

WE ARE PROUDLY VETERINARIAN-FOUNDED & OWNED. We aren't run by a remote board of investors. We are run by veterinarians. We make decisions based on medical best practices, not shareholder returns.

The Surgeon’S Opportunity

  • Highly Competitive Compensation: Generous Base Salary + Production percentages (with no negative accrual) commensurate with experience and Board status.
  • Top-of-the-Line Equipment: You don’t need to fight for budget approvals here. We are fully equipped with the advanced surgical instrumentation, monitoring, and diagnostic technology you need to perform at your highest level.
  • Instant Caseload: You won't have to spend your days marketing to referring vets. We have a massive internal network of General Practice and Emergency veterinarians across three locations feeding you cases daily. The work is already here.
  • Future Growth: We are breaking ground on a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital opening in 2026. You will be transitioning into one of the premier veterinary facilities in the region.

About Catskill Veterinary Services

We are the "Full Scope" medical hub for the region. We bridge the gap between local primary care and tertiary referral centers.

  • The Ecosystem: We operate busy ER and GP hubs in Rock Hill, Newburgh, and Middletown. You will serve as the primary surgical referral resource for this entire network.
  • Advanced Care Focus: We are committed to offering advanced diagnostics and treatments. Whether it is complex orthopedics (TPLO, fractures), soft tissue, or oncologic surgery, our community relies on us (and you) to provide care they can't get elsewhere.
  • Continuity of Care: Enjoy the satisfaction of true case management. You have direct access to the ER and GP doctors managing your post-ops and long-term recoveries.

The Support You Deserve

You cut. We care. We know that a surgeon is only as good as their anesthesia team.

  • Licensed & Capable: You will be supported by a powerhouse team of Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs)and experienced assistants. We pride ourselves on high-level anesthesia monitoring, pain management protocols, and surgical nursing.
  • Efficiency: Our team handles the prep, the recovery, and the discharge instructions so you can focus on the procedure.
  • Collaborative Culture: We will meet you with the energy and drive you bring to the table. We pride ourselves on maintaining a facility that meets the highest standards of care.

Life in the Hudson Valley

Trade the referral center grind for a high-quality life. Located in the beautiful Hudson Valley, our practice offers the perfect balance of professional satisfaction and personal lifestyle.

  • Ideally Located: We are a short, scenic drive to NYC. You can enjoy the city culture on your days off, but live in an area with a lower cost of living, more land, and less traffic.
  • The Good Life: The Hudson Valley is the food and drink capital of New York State. Enjoy farm-to-table dining, world-class wineries, and a vibrant art scene (Storm King, Dia: Beacon, Bethel Woods).
  • Outdoor Access: Decompress after a shift by hiking Minnewaska, kayaking the Hudson or Delaware Rivers, or skiing in the winter.

What We Are Looking For

  • Credentials: DVM/VMD + Board Certification (DACVS) OR Board Eligible (active residency completion).
  • NYS License: Current license (or ability to obtain one).
  • Versatility: Proficiency in both orthopedic and soft tissue procedures.
  • Collaboration: A specialist who views the referring GP/ER vets as partners, not subordinates. We value a collaborative approach to case management.

The Benefits Package

We take care of our people so they can take care of the pets.

  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO): We believe in time off to recharge.
  • Competitive Salary: $200,000-250,000/yr, plus bonus incentive
  • Flexible Scheduling: We work with you to create a schedule that optimizes your OR time and prevents burnout.
  • Continuing Education (CE): Annual CE allowance and paid days off.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance.
  • Aflac Supplemental Insurance.
  • Professional Fees Paid: NYS License, DEA, PLIT, and AVMA/NYSVMS/ACVS dues.
  • Uniform Allowance: Scrubs/lab coats provided.
  • Employee Discounts: Generous discounts on pet care for your own pets.
