Rehabilitation-Occupational Therapist (Cert Hand) - Per Diem*

*IMPORTANT NOTE: In lieu of benefits due to "per diem" status, 15% will be added to the hourly rate. Per diem employees are offered work on an "as-needed" basis.*

Summary

Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of Occupational Therapy. Facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for activity performance or adaptation, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team.

Position Requirements

Minimum Education Required

* Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.

* Graduate from accredited University of Occupational Therapy Program.

License Required

* Licensed and registered with the State of Nevada and NBCOT.

Certificate Required

* Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) designation

Minimum Work Experience

* Minimum of 2 years of experience in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation.

* Proficiency in fabricating custom orthotics and splints.

* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Position Essential Functions

* Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' hand and upper extremity function.

* Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on initial assessments and ongoing evaluations.

* Utilize therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities to improve range of motion, strength, and functionality.

* Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, home exercise programs, and post-treatment care.

* Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

* Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.

* Fabricate and fit custom orthotics and splints to support healing and functional improvement.

* Conduct pre-surgical education and postoperative rehabilitation for patients undergoing hand surgery.

Delegate/Flexibility

* Demonstrates the ability to delegate parts of treatment programs to the rehab technicians when available.

* Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling according to the needs of the department and patient load.

Patient Activity Program

* Responsible for supervision and management of the Swing Bed Rehabilitation activity program if acute occupational therapy staff is unavailable

Documentation

* Maintains appropriate documentation of initial evaluations, daily treatment, progress notes and outcomes assessments

Education

* Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain certification and stay current with industry advancements.

* Provide mentorship and training to other therapists and healthcare students in the field of hand therapy.

Per Diem positions have no guaranteed hours or set schedule. The position will fill in for individuals who take unplanned and/or planned time off.
