Why Join Us
Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital is one of the nation's most storied cardiac centers — the first hospital in the U.S. built exclusively for heart disease when it opened in 1998, and still a world leader in cardiovascular care today.
This immersion opportunity places you directly alongside two of Arizona's most respected structural heart interventionalists, Dr. Timothy Byrne and Dr. Akil Loli, in a high-volume, academically engaged program.
With nearly 900 structural cases completed in 2025 and complete autonomy to scrub into any case, you'll sharpen your skills fast in an environment built for clinical excellence. If you're ready to take your structural skillset to the next level, this is the room to be in.

- Call: One weekend of interventional call per month — the only call requirement
- Academic Engagement: Biweekly TAVR case conferences; teaching responsibilities with residents and cardiology fellows
- Research: Active participation expected, including at least one publication submission
- Mentorship: Direct collaboration with Dr. Byrne (Market Medical Director, Cardiac Services; clinical trials PI) and Dr. Loli (Designated Institutional Officer for GME; cardiovascular fellowship core faculty)
