Job Description

$200K Your Way — Full-Time First-Year Guaranteed Compensation (Based on Experience)

Ready to lead a hospital while still practicing medicine the way you believe it should be practiced?

At Bedford Veterinary Medical Centre, this Medical Director role allows you to guide medical standards, mentor the team, and influence hospital direction — without stepping away from patient care.

Experienced veterinarians can receive a customizable first-year compensation package totaling up to $200K (based on experience). Choose the structure that fits your goals — a higher guaranteed base salary, a larger signing bonus, or a combination of both.

  • This package is designed to be flexible and achievable based on your experience and preferences.
  • Quick Snapshot
  • 3 DVM team (you + 2 experienced veterinarians)
  • Clinical leadership role with strong operational support
  • Mix of wellness, sick visits, and general practice cases
  • Strong, experienced technician and support staff
  • Predictable scheduling with excellent work-life balance

The Opportunity

This is a clinical leadership role — not a desk job.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape medical quality, mentor fellow doctors, and influence the direction of the hospital while maintaining a hands-on caseload.

This is an ideal opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to step into leadership without sacrificing clinical practice or work-life balance.

Your Role as Medical Director

You Will

  • Establish and uphold medical quality standards
  • Mentor and support associate veterinarians
  • Collaborate closely with the Hospital Manager on operations
  • Guide case management and patient care protocols
  • Foster a positive, accountable team culture

Maintain an Active Clinical Caseload

You’ll be supported by strong operational leadership so your focus remains on medicine and team development — not administrative overload.

What It’s Like to Practice Here

Bedford Veterinary Medical Centre is a well-established small animal practice built around consistency, efficiency, and a respectful team culture.

This is not a high-volume, high-pressure environment — you’ll have the time and support to practice medicine thoughtfully and lead effectively.

We Prioritize

  • Appropriate appointment pacing
  • Thorough case workups
  • Collaborative medicine
  • Predictable scheduling and work-life balance
