Position Summary

The Physical Therapist (PT) will adhere to the standards of practice and ethical conduct of the Physical Therapy profession. The PT will help students move, participate and thrive.

You will assess student's needs, create personalized therapy plans and work closely with educators and families to remove physical barriers to learning. Your work will directly impact student’s confidence, independence and ability to fully engage in their school day.

The PT is responsible for adhering to all federal and state regulations and Reach Cyber Charter School’s policies and procedures.

Following Tasks

• Implement therapeutic interventions to improve student’s daily living skills and overall functionality.
• Consult with school-based team to achieve student outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, treatment plans and compliance with school and state regulations.
• Collaborate closely with school staff, families and other professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Manage and maintain clear documentation consistent with Reach Cyber Charter School’s policies and credentialing requirements.
• Develop and implement individualized plans aligned with IEP goals
• Adapt classroom environments and recommend assistive equipment
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions to support student progress in areas such as mobility, positioning, endurance and motor development
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting therapy plans as needed to ensure continued growth and effectiveness
• Support transitioning planning for students as they move between grade levels, schools or post-secondary settings by addressing physical accessibility and independence needs.
• Promote inclusive practices by helping to adapt activities so students with physical challenges can participate alongside their peers.
• Provide consultation to school staff and families regarding strategies, accommodations and modifications that support student access, safety and independence throughout the school day.
• Applies ethical standards to professional practice as well as relevant laws and policies in the delivery of physical therapy services.
• Complete duties associated with the school-Based Access Program (SBAP)
• Adheres to federal and state legislation, regulation and policies that affect physical therapy practice in schools

Education/Qualifications

Minimum education/Certification

• Master’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited program. Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred.
• Valid state license as a Physical Therapist
• Full certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM), Safety Care, or other restraint management system may be required by the assignment
• Possesses all PDE required clearances for school-based personnel.

Experience Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in Education, Business or Social Services is preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Knowledge of special education practices as related to Physical Therapy
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, parents, students, teachers, and support staff.
• Ability to connect with a diverse group of people and build strong relationships
• Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.

Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities

• Must reside in the state of Pennsylvania
• Must be eligible to bill for the SBAP
• Ability to pass the background checks required for all school employees in Pennsylvania.
• This position could include limited travel and could include limited overnight travel.
