Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – PMHNP (ADHD Clinic)
Position Overview
Overall responsibilities include the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) across the lifespan through evaluations and medication management. Works collaboratively with the Alleviant psychiatrist.
This individual provides safe, effective, and compassionate care that is consistent with State and Federal regulations and Company policies, procedures, and guidelines, and within his/her scope of practice.
This is a full-time, primarily telehealth position with the Alleviant ADHD Clinic, serving children, adolescents, and adults.
Patients whose evaluation shows a primary diagnosis of ADHD continue their care in the ADHD Clinic. Patients with comorbid psychiatric diagnoses are referred to Alleviant's outpatient psychiatry clinic.
While this position is primarily telehealth, in-person visits at an Alleviant clinic within reasonable commuting distance may be required as needed to comply with current or future State and Federal regulations, including DEA requirements for prescribing controlled substances via telemedicine, or to meet clinical and operational needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Gathers and maintains patient information and health history, including collateral information from parents, caregivers, teachers, or partners as appropriate.
- Conducts comprehensive ADHD diagnostic evaluations via telehealth using age-appropriate validated rating scales, interviews, and observations.
- Analyzes and evaluates patient data and findings to diagnose ADHD and to identify comorbid or overlapping conditions.
- Refers patients with comorbid psychiatric diagnoses to Alleviant's outpatient psychiatry clinic, and coordinates the transition of care.
- Provides ongoing follow-up care and medication management for patients whose primary diagnosis is ADHD.
- Prescribes and manages stimulant and non-stimulant medications in line with current clinical guidelines and State and Federal controlled-substance regulations, including PDMP review and lab testing.
- Adjusts treatment for developmental stage, including pediatric growth and appetite monitoring, adolescent transition, and adult presentations.
- Prepares and maintains confidential records and reports.
- Ensures treatment plans are devised, updated, and carried out.
- Works in collaboration with the Alleviant psychiatrist to develop treatment plans.
- Monitors the use of medications.
- Advises patients, families, and caregivers on the condition, treatment options, and school and workplace strategies.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the treatment regimen and the client's progress.
- Enforces all HIPAA compliance guidelines, including telehealth privacy and security standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Requires ability to work under stressful situations demanding high concentration and energy level.
- Requires extended periods of computer and video-conferencing use.
- Must maintain a private, HIPAA-compliant workspace with reliable high-speed internet for telehealth visits.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Advanced knowledge of ADHD diagnosis and treatment across the lifespan, including stimulant and non-stimulant pharmacotherapy, age-based dosing, and side-effect management.
- Ability to distinguish ADHD from overlapping or comorbid conditions such as anxiety, depression, learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, and substance use.
- Comfortable delivering care via telehealth, including engaging younger patients and families virtually.
- Knowledge of the healthcare industry, including CMS, and Federal regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Carries out all duties in a professional and courteous manner.
- Interpersonal and listening skills to interact effectively with individuals of all backgrounds, experience, and educational levels.
- Strong customer service skills to identify and address patient needs.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently to deliver key results.
- Works collaboratively with a high degree of professional ethics and knowledge of confidentiality and regulatory compliance practices.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Hold a degree as a PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) at the level needed to assess and prescribe medication collaboratively with a psychiatrist.
- Be licensed as a psychiatric APRN with a minimum of 2 years of outpatient/inpatient experience as a PMHNP-BC.
- Current APRN license in good standing.
- Current DEA registration with Schedule II prescribing authority.
- Demonstrated experience in ADHD evaluation and treatment; experience with both pediatric and adult populations preferred.
- Board certified (PMHNP-BC).

Job Context
This position is full-time and primarily telehealth, Monday through Friday. Periodic or regular on-site work at an Alleviant clinic within reasonable commuting distance may be required based on regulatory changes or business needs. Individual responsibilities are mostly limited to providing clients outstanding, satisfactory services. Contributing to the corporate culture and activities is also expected. The atmosphere is positive, encouraging, and teamwork oriented.

Requirements
Candidates must hold a PMHNP degree, be board certified (PMHNP-BC), and possess a current APRN license with at least 2 years of clinical experience. A valid DEA registration with Schedule II prescribing authority is required.
