Cardiothoracic Surgeon

St. George Regional Hospital | Intermountain Health | St. George, Utah

Intermountain Health is seeking a BC/BE Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join a highly collaborative team of 3 cardiothoracic surgeons in St. George, Utah. This is an exceptional opportunity to step into an established practice with strong surgical volumes, robust APP support, and an expanding Structural Heart program.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in both adult cardiac surgery and thoracic surgery, with enthusiasm for participating in and growing our Structural Heart/TAVR program alongside an experienced cardiovascular team.

  • Supported by 4 Surgical APPs and 2 Structural Heart APPs
  • Partner with 2 Interventional Cardiologists performing TAVR procedures
  • Approximately 250 CABG and valve cases annually and growing
  • Opportunity to perform both cardiac and thoracic procedures
  • 1-2 clinic days per week
  • 1:4 call schedule with flexibility around vacations and time off
  • Major cardiovascular expansion underway, including 2 Hybrid ORs scheduled for completion in 2027

  • Starting salary for new fellows: $813,500
  • Standard salary (3+ years' experience): $957,000 wRVU incentive: $97.65 per wRVU above annual threshold
  • Continuous Improvement Bonus: $75,000 annually beginning Year 2 (metrics driven)
  • $50,000 starting bonus
  • Up to $20,000 relocation assistance
  • Up to $5,000 annual CME allowance
  • Discretionary Time Off (uncapped)

What You’ll Bring

  • MD or DO degree from a fully accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine
  • Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Unrestricted Utah MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license
  • U.S. ACGME Residency
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process

Key Responsibilities

The surgeon will perform adult cardiac and thoracic procedures while collaborating with a team of cardiologists and APPs. Responsibilities include managing surgical volumes, participating in the Structural Heart/TAVR program, and maintaining a 1:4 call schedule.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery. An unrestricted Utah medical license and successful completion of the hospital's credentialing process are required.
