Join a collaborative academic anesthesia team as a board-certified/board-eligible Critical Care Anesthesiologist with fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine, practicing in a high-acuity, innovative teaching environment.
Enjoy a balanced clinical practice providing 12 weeks of critical care medicine and 30 weeks of general anesthesia, caring for complex patients while working alongside a multidisciplinary team.
Shape the next generation of physicians by teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, and other learners in both the clinical and academic settings while delivering exceptional patient care.

- Compensation:
- $625,000 annually for full-time services; includes ICU and Anesthesia compensation
- Up to $3,000 annually for CME
- 10 weeks paid time off
- $50,000 commencement bonus
- Relocation assistance/allowance available up to *$10,000 for out-of-state or out-of-area candidates

Practice Environment
The Anesthesiology department is diverse, consisting of 14 physicians, over 30 independent-practice CRNAs, and 24 Residents (8-10 daily on site) providing services for up to 19 anesthetizing locations daily, including acute care ORs, cardiac ORs, obstetrics, GI/endo, cath lab, interventional radiology, and a hospital ambulatory surgery center.
The annual anesthesia case volume is approximately 14,300 cases, consisting of ~9,000 surgical cases, 800 cardiac cases, and 2,000 out-of-OR cases in GI, EP lab/Cath Lab, and interventional radiology.
OB services with 3,000 births annually
Critical Care Medicine Team provides coverage for 4 ICUs (SICU, MICU, RICU, CCU) with a total of 40 ICU beds – Coverage is divided between ICU teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide 30 weeks of Main OR anesthesia services
- Resident supervision in OR and non-OR cases, occasionally sit your own cases, no CRNA supervision.
- Provide 12 weeks of Critical Care Medicine
Provide service for 4 ICUs (SICU-open, MICU-closed, RICU, CCU) with a total of 40 ICU beds – Coverage is divided between ICU teams.
- Shift Coverage -typically 7 days of 12-hour days or 12-hour nights.
- Fellow and resident supervision in the ICU setting

- MD/DO Anesthesiologist with Critical Care Fellowship
- BC/BE
- Active state license

St. Joseph’s is the largest hospital in San Joaquin County and is considered the 10th busiest cardiothoracic department in California. The Anesthesia Residency program started in July 2021. Residency subspecialty training currently available at St. Joseph’s includes cardiac, obstetrics, critical care, acute and chronic pain, and pediatrics.
