This contract, on-site position offers an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level physician to provide comprehensive primary care in a community-focused healthcare setting. As a Locum Family Medicine Physician, you will deliver patient-centered care across a diverse range of ages and medical needs, ensuring continuity and quality throughout your assignment.

In this role, you will work within the Medical Practice industry, collaborating closely with nursing staff, specialists, and administrative teams to maintain high standards of clinical excellence.

Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions, performing routine examinations, and supporting preventive care initiatives that improve long-term patient outcomes.

The position is based fully on-site in Sisseton, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local patient community and build strong therapeutic relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages in an on-site family medicine setting
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
• Conduct routine physical examinations, health assessments, and preventive screenings
• Prescribe and manage medications, therapies, and treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging studies
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records documentation
• Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams
• Counsel patients on lifestyle modifications, disease prevention, and wellness
• Refer patients to appropriate specialists and coordinate follow-up care
• Ensure compliance with medical practice standards, regulations, and protocols
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the practice
• Provide continuity of care throughout the duration of the locum contract

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Valid medical license to practice in the assigned jurisdiction
• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine
• Associate-level experience in a family medicine or primary care setting
• Proficiency in diagnosing and managing a broad range of medical conditions
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with patients and staff
• Ability to work effectively in an on-site, contract-based medical practice environment
• Commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based medicine
• Current BLS or ACLS certification preferred
• Ability to adapt quickly to new practice systems and workflows

Flexible Schedule: 4-5 days per week, optional weekends

Shifts: 8a-4:30p, 7:30a-6p, or 8a-8p

Patient Population: All ages

Patient Census: 12-16 per day

Duties: Routine check-ups, physical examinations, and health assessments

Any state license accepted

Must be board-certified or board-eligible

DEA & BLS required
