Job Description
This is a contract, on-site position offering a unique opportunity to provide essential emergency care services within a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare environment. As a key member of the emergency medicine team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse community.
In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients presenting with a wide range of acute and urgent medical conditions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and specialists to ensure comprehensive and efficient patient management.
This position is ideal for an experienced Associate-level provider looking to make a significant impact in emergency medicine while enjoying the flexibility of a locum tenens assignment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory work and imaging studies
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and injuries, including minor procedures
- Prescribe and manage appropriate medications and treatment plans
- Collaborate with supervising physicians and consulting specialists on complex cases
- Document patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Maintain a high standard of patient care and safety in a fast-paced environment
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and follow-up care
- Adhere to all hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings as needed
- Manage time effectively to ensure efficient patient throughput
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Associate-level experience in Emergency Medicine or a related acute care setting
- Board Certification as an NP or PA
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Strong clinical skills in emergency assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and team interaction
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
- Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality patient care
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Prior experience in a locum tenens role is a plus
Schedule: 10- to 12-hour night shifts
No call requirement
Patient Volume: 1.8 per hour
40 ER bays
Support Staff: Normal ER staff, 1:4 RN ratio
Must be board-certified
DEA, ACLS, and BLS required
