Cert. Nurse Midwife

Community Healthcare Network is seeking for a Certified Nurse Midwife (1 Day/ Week) who will deliver coordinated, thorough, and ongoing obstetric, gynecologic, and family planning care to patients, adhering to established medical standards as well as the organization's policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

1. Provides obstetric, gynecologic, and family planning care to patients in a primary care setting

2. Provides obstetric care to low-risk patients and/or moderate-risk obstetric patients in collaboration or co-management with an obstetrician

3. Obtains and/or reviews/evaluates an obstetric, gynecologic, or family planning patient’s medical and psychosocial history

4. Performs family planning, gynecologic or obstetric physical examinations as clinically indicated, including comprehensive annual examinations and comprehensive examinations at the Prenatal Initial visit

5. Performs screening procedures including cervical cancer screening, STI screening, breast cancer screening and colorectal cancer screening when clinically indicated

• 6. Conducts interim physical examinations tailored to the specific complaints presented
• 7. Interprets laboratory and diagnostic imaging data in a thorough and systematic manner
• 8. Reviews and time-stamps laboratory and diagnostic imaging reports, orders appropriate or additional laboratory tests and referrals, and conducts follow-up actions as clinically indicated and in a timely fashion
• 9. Evaluates, treats, or refers patients according to current standards and policy guidelines

10. Delivers contraceptive care services, including long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) procedures. LARC privileges are granted upon fulfillment of the credentials and privileging committee's requirements

11. Consults with the obstetrician-gynecologist (either internally or externally) for clinical guidance when encountering obstetric or gynecologic issues beyond their area of expertise

12. Provides patient education and counseling during obstetric, family planning, STI’/HIV, screening visits

13. Refers patients promptly to internal medicine or primary care clinicians or to social work as appropriate

14. Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate, such as referrals to specialists or other disciplines, access to mental health resources, ensuring all communications and records are handled in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and patient consent to maintain confidentiality and privacy

15. Reports accidents or anticipated problems

16. Participates in in-service education and assigned other trainings.

17. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Community Healthcare Network’s clinical policies and procedures

18. Have a thorough understanding of Community Healthcare Network's Title X guidelines and protocols

19. Adheres to all policies and procedures.

20. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

• Current NYS license as Certified Nurse Midwife or Nurse Midwife
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as Certified Nurse Midwife or Certified Midwife, preferably in a family planning clinic setting.
