Key Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care by conducting physical assessments, delivering prescribed respiratory medications, and responding to medical emergencies like 'Code 99' and rapid response team calls. Responsibilities also include initiating and managing mechanical ventilation, conducting and analyzing arterial blood gases, and assisting with airway management procedures such as suctioning and intubation.

Requirements

Candidates must possess an Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Care and be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Required credentials include a valid Massachusetts Registered Therapist License and current BLS certification, with the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential needed within one year of hire.
