Job Description
The Psychiatrist is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the High Watch guests in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan and evaluation of patient status). Medical clinical management is conducted in collaboration with other health care team members.
Job Duties
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis & Evaluation
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including clinical interviews, psychological tests, and physical examinations.
- Diagnose mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and mood disorders.
Treatment Planning
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications to treat mental health disorders.
Therapeutic Interventions
- Provide psychotherapy (e. g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy) to patients when necessary.
- Monitor the progress of treatment and adjust interventions as needed.
Collaboration
- Work with psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other healthcare providers to create comprehensive treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress and update treatment strategies.
Patient Education & Support
- Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatments, and coping strategies.
- Offer support for families and caregivers to help manage the effects of psychiatric conditions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Prepare and submit reports as required by law, insurance companies, or health care facilities.
Continuing Education
- Stay updated on the latest psychiatric research, therapies, medications, and best practices.
- Attend professional development seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
- Board Certified Physician with current licensure in the State of CT. Graduate of an accredited medical school.
- Must carry all applicable State and Federal licenses (DEA)
- Completed an accredited psychiatric residency program and is board certified or board eligible. Board certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years substance abuse addiction treatment. Two years’ experience in the Doctor/Practitioner role preferred.

Requirements
Candidates must be a Board Certified Physician with a current Connecticut medical license and DEA registration. A minimum of 2 years of experience in substance abuse addiction treatment is required.
