Newly Enhanced, ED-Aligned Compensation
Carilion Clinic is investing in emergency psychiatry with a compensation structure designed to recognize the pace, acuity, and specialized clinical judgment required in the emergency department.
- ED physician-aligned base rate: Higher base hourly compensation commensurate with Emergency Department physicians
- Substantial shift differentials: Additional compensation for weekend and weeknight coverage
- Flexible practice model: Position may include virtual telepsychiatry coverage, with additional hourly incentive for in-person emergency department coverage

Benefits
Salary Range, $301,875.00.00 to $350,000.00
The posted salary range may not reflect the full value of the total compensation package. You are eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary.
Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary. In addition, comprehensive benefits and pension offerings further enhance the overall rewards package.

Key Responsibilities
The psychiatrist will conduct psychiatric evaluations, risk assessments, and crisis interventions within the emergency department. They will also collaborate with the emergency medicine team to coordinate treatment planning, admissions, discharges, and patient referrals.
Requirements
Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and be board certified or eligible in Psychiatry. Experience in emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, or similar clinical settings is required.
