Job Description

Role Summary

We’re looking for dedicated and dependable Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join our team and provide compassionate, day-to-day support for individuals working through substance use, mental health, or co-occurring challenges.

As a BHT, you’ll play a vital role in each client’s recovery journey by helping maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment. BHTs monitor client behavior, assist with transportation, support therapeutic groups, and respond to client needs as they arise. You’ll work under the supervision of the Director of Operations and Operations Supervisors, collaborating closely with clinical and medical teams to ensure clients are supported every step of the way.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all assigned Behavioral Health Technician duties and documentation in accordance with Lincoln Recovery policies, state regulations, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Monitor and document client vital signs as required by state protocols and clinical guidance.
  • Assist with the admission and intake process for all new clients, including collecting urine samples, conducting belongings and vehicle searches, and completing required paperwork.
  • Support detoxification protocols, including completion of vital signs and routine monitoring for clients undergoing withdrawal management
  • Provide safe and timely transportation of clients to appointments, meetings, airports, and other approved destinations.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries and supportive communication with clients during transport.
  • Observes and reports changes in client mood, behavior, or physical condition to the Operations Supervisor or on duty staff.
  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks.
  • Reports vehicle maintenance needs, safety issues, or incidents promptly.
  • Maintains knowledge of program policies, HIPPA requirements, and client confidentiality expectations.
  • Assist in crisis intervention efforts, including verbal de-escalation and immediate communication with medical or clinical staff when necessary.
  • Support clients with daily living activities, including maintaining cleanliness of shared spaces, assisting with food preparation, and encouraging healthy routines.
  • Participate in and support on-site activities, peer support groups, outings, and community meetings, as assigned.
  • Observe and recognize signs of potential substance use or mental health distress, documenting and reporting observations promptly.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education sessions to enhance job knowledge and team collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations to support the overall facility operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of mental health conditions, substance use, and the impact of co-occurring disorders.
  • Basic knowledge of the use and misuse of alcohol and other substances.
  • Understanding of and/or experience in crisis management, including de-escalation techniques.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality standards.
  • Familiarity with SMART Recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) support models.
  • Preferred candidates should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with effective communication, time management, problem-solving skills, and strong professional boundaries.
  • Must be respectful and responsive to religious, ethnic, cultural, and individual differences in client care and team interactions.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain
  • Must successfully complete Background Check, Drug Screen, and TB Test

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods while driving.
  • Ability to assist clients entering and exiting vehicles safely.
  • Ability to perform routine cleaning and light physical tasks.

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and be at least 18 years old. Additionally, they are required to hold or obtain CPR and First Aid certification and successfully pass a background check, drug screen, and TB test.
