Position Highlights
Balanced practice encompassing critical care, inpatient pulmonary consultation, outpatient pulmonary medicine, and procedures.
Rotating schedule designed to provide dedicated ICU, inpatient pulmonary, outpatient clinic, procedural, and non-service time.
Collaborative ICU model with 24/7 in-house APP support.
New, state-of-the-art endoscopy suite, featuring advanced diagnostic and interventional capabilities, including Ion robotic bronchoscopy and GE 3D fluoroscopy.
Comprehensive pulmonary physiology laboratory equipped with PFT systems, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, arterial blood gas testing, and methacholine challenge capabilities.
Dedicated Lung Nodule Clinic led by an APP, providing timely, protocol-driven evaluation and longitudinal follow-up while supporting physician access for complex pulmonary care and procedures.
Collaborate with the dedicated Lung Nodule Clinic and John Stoddard Cancer Center’s multidisciplinary thoracic oncology team—including medical oncology, radiation oncology, and thoracic surgery—to provide coordinated care from nodule identification through diagnosis and treatment.
Opportunities to participate in interstitial lung disease case conferences and multidisciplinary thoracic tumor boards.
On-site radiology services and strong multidisciplinary specialty support.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate care across clinical teams.
Evaluate and manage critically ill patients, including ventilator management and bedside procedures.
Provide inpatient pulmonary consultations and manage pulmonary service patients.
Deliver comprehensive outpatient pulmonary care across Waukee Medical Park and the John Stoddard Cancer Center.
Perform bronchoscopies and other pulmonary procedures, with opportunities to utilize advanced robotic bronchoscopy and 3D fluoroscopy technology.
Interpret and support pulmonary diagnostic services, including pulmonary function testing and other advanced pulmonary physiology studies.
Collaborate closely with oncology, thoracic surgery, radiology, and other specialties in the evaluation and treatment of patients with pulmonary disease and suspected or confirmed thoracic malignancies.
Participate in a rotating schedule that includes ICU, inpatient pulmonary, outpatient clinic, procedural, and post-hospital service assignments.
Collaborate with APPs and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure coordinated care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Provide physician oversight and clinical support for the APP-led Lung Nodule Clinic, including evaluation of complex cases and procedural planning when bronchoscopy or other advanced diagnostics are indicated.
Collaborate with the Lung Nodule Clinic APP and multidisciplinary cancer team to facilitate timely evaluation, diagnostic workup, and continuity of care for patients with suspicious pulmonary nodules.
Participate in interstitial lung disease case conferences, thoracic tumor boards, and other multidisciplinary programs based on clinical interests.
Support the continued growth of pulmonary services, disease-management programs, procedural capabilities, and patient-access initiatives.
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and program-development activities.
Educate and mentor residents and medical students.
Qualifications
Qualifications
MD or DO
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pulmonology and Critical Care
Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician’s field of practice
Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
J-1 waiver sponsorship available
