Substance Abuse Counselor (LSAA / LADAC)

Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS) is seeking compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselors to join our Behavioral Health team.

In this rewarding role, you will provide assessments, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, education, and care coordination to support clients throughout their recovery journey.

Working alongside an interdisciplinary team and community partners, you will help individuals develop the skills, support systems, and confidence needed to achieve long-term wellness and recovery.

This position is open to Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (LADACs), Licensed Substance Abuse Associates (LSAAs), and other qualified behavioral health professionals with eligible licensure.

Qualifications

What You'll Do

• Conduct substance use screenings, assessments, and evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual, family, couples, and group counseling services.
• Facilitate substance use education and recovery-focused programming.
• Support clients through all stages of recovery, including aftercare planning.
• Coordinate care with families, community partners, courts, schools, employers, and other service providers.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Participate in outreach, prevention, and community education initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associates of Arts degree.
• Knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction, substance abuse treatment techniques, and twelve-step recovery programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous required.
• Recovering counselors must be drug and alcohol-free a minimum of two years prior to employment.
• At least six months experience interviewing, screening and assessing abuse clients.
• Experience in objective testing (e. g., SASSI, AUP) related to substance abuse issues as well as training and/or education in substance abuse issues.
