Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Surgical Complex Specialty Nurse Practitioner, in collaboration with the physician/medical director, you will assume clinical responsibility for tasks performed within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice. This includes taking patient's history, performing physical examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnosis, and providing care and management for various illnesses and disease prevention. Every day, you may assist in patient admission, transfer, or discharge. You will make appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies, and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered plans. In addition to general NP duties, you will provide specialized care and management for complex surgical patients, often in critical care units, respond to acute situations in the periprocedural period, and collaborate with surgical teams to optimize outcomes. To be successful in your role, you will strategically deliver comprehensive, highly specialized patient care for complex surgical cases, assuming clinical responsibility for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients within the Nurse Practitioner's scope. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise in performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, responding to acute situations, and collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered plans, while actively participating in quality assurance and ensuring seamless care coordination throughout the surgical journey.
Responsible for performing patient evaluations, reviewing pretreatment teaching, recommending therapeutic intervention, counseling patients and families and collaborating with appropriate physicians to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within the scope of practice for nurse practitioner in collaboration with the Program Director. Primary point of contact and assumes responsibilities for managing the care for patients.
Takes 1st call after hours and weekends included for all patients on service (ICU/Floor/Tele and after hours for answering service for clinic patients).
One day/week call after 5pm is the minimum requirement of the position
One weekend call per/month which will include patient rounding or other patient care needs identified (e. g. admissions/discharges) by the on-call attending will begin at 5pm on Friday- 8am on Monday).
Coverage for call is expected to be completed and submitted by the 20th day of the month prior to the start of the callperiod (beginning of the month.
As necessary performs and documents; admissions, discharges, History/Physicals and Progress Notes.

Required
Masters of Science from an accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
Three (3) years clinical experience in related area or specialty field
Registered Nurse: AZ
Drug Enforcement Administration-Control Sub Reg Cert: AZ
American Heart Association BLS Basic Life Support - CPR
American Heart Association ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support
