Academic Year 2027-2028 | Missouri Baptist Medical Center | St. Louis, Missouri

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a member of BJC HealthCare, is seeking an outstanding physician to serve as Chief Resident for the 2027-2028 academic year.
This unique PGY-4 leadership opportunity is designed for a graduating Internal Medicine resident with a passion for academic medicine, resident education, mentorship, and physician leadership. As Chief Resident, you will play a vital role in supporting residents, collaborating with faculty, and helping lead one of the region's premier community-based Internal Medicine residency programs.
Position Highlights
- One-year Chief Resident appointment for Academic Year 2027-2028
- Faculty appointment within the Internal Medicine Residency Program
- Precept in the residency clinic three half-days per week
- Oversee and support a residency program consisting of 45 categorical residents and 13 transitional residents
- Serve as a liaison between residents, faculty, and program leadership
- Mentor and support resident education and professional development
- Gain valuable leadership, teaching, and administrative experience
- Practice within a highly academic community hospital environment
- Work alongside an exceptional and dedicated faculty
- Readily available moonlighting opportunities
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program prior to the start date
- Current PGY-3 Internal Medicine resident in good standing
- Eligible for Missouri medical licensure
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Demonstrated Interest in Resident Education and Mentorship
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) due to faculty appointment and Missouri licensure requirements

Overview
Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. Role Purpose
Participates in educational activities and provides services in the residency/clinical fellowship program as outlined in the Graduate Education Consortium Operating Principles.
Responsibilities
Provides clinical service commensurate with level of advancement and responsibilities and under appropriate supervision.
Performs clinical services only at sites specifically approved by the Program and, under circumstances, at locations covered by the professional liability insurance maintained for the resident by the Hospital or School of Medicine as appropriate.
Cooperates fully with the Program, School of Medicine and Hospital in coordinating and completing required documentation.
Develops and follows a personal program of self-study and professional growth under guidance of the Program's teaching faculty.
Maintains and schedules Core Curriculum, annual schedules, as well as scheduling of continuing medical education conferences for the hospital community. Follows Consortium Operating Principles.
