Registered Nurse - Educator

Purpose

As an employee of Trinity Health System, it is the responsibility of this and all positions within the Hospital to support the mission and role of Trinity Health System. In addition, this position will actively support the Hospital's Strategic Plan in the areas of People, Service, Quality, Finance and Growth in a team based environment. The employee also performs all job duties in compliance with laws and regulation in the observance of accrediting agency standards. The Nurse Educator demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in the orientation of new nursing employees and assist in the further development of current employees. Through consistent interaction with staff, she/he is able to support the clinical staff in developing the necessary skills for the assigned practice areas. The Nurse Educator serves as a role model, consultant and facilitator in planning, implementing and evaluating the educational and other hospital based activities.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates organizational skills, making certain all necessary steps are followed to set up, plan and provide training programs.

• Prepares and/or delivers educational programs as requested or as needed.
• Demonstrates skills and knowledge in the teaching/learning process for staff.
• Serves as a mentor for new nursing graduates and others as requested.

Demonstrates an understanding of the needs of new hires and addresses these needs effectively through skills, training, and competencies.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Masters Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education preferred.

Minimum three years of relevant clinical practice.

Previous teaching experience as preceptor or in health related field. CPR instructor for Basic Life Support. Advanced Life Support instructor certification or Pediatric Life Support instructor may be required

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Registered Nurse (RN)

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
