Job Description

Bilingual Intensive Case Manager (Social Worker)

The Bilingual Intensive Case Manager will provide holistic case management to survivors of human trafficking and is part of a team committed to helping make freedom real for each survivor.

About Restore NYC

Restore is a nonprofit organization making freedom real for survivors of trafficking in the United States. Our vision is a world free from trafficking. For every survivor, a life of hope, restoration, and flourishing. Learn more about us on our website. [Restorenyc.org]

Our Values

We depend on God / We pursue impact / We execute with excellence / We care for each other / We can’t do it alone / The survivor drives our approach

Diversity & Inclusion: The Foundation to Making Freedom Real Restore's mission is to make freedom real for survivors of trafficking in the United States. To do that, we desire a staff team that is more representative of the survivors we serve — almost all of whom are Black, Latina, and/or immigrants. Applicants from these underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. We especially welcome applicants who have lived experience of trafficking or labor exploitation.

About the Position

The Intensive Case Manager reports to the Director of Client Services.

The Client Services team is the cornerstone of Restore's direct service efforts and includes program managers and other Intensive Case Managers. The team works primarily with adult clients of all genders who have experienced sex or labor trafficking.

The Intensive Case Manager carries a caseload of approximately 23 survivors. Many clients are living with complex trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns while also facing housing instability, immigration proceedings, and financial hardship. The role requires frequent client contact, coordination across multiple providers, and the ability to address clinical and practical needs together.

The position combines office based work with mobile advocacy. As client needs require, the Intensive Case Manager meets clients in the community and accompanies them to court, medical and mental health appointments, benefits offices, shelters, and legal or law enforcement meetings across the five boroughs.

Clinical Supervision and Growth

Because of the clinical intensity of this role, weekly clinical supervision is provided that counts toward clinical licensure. Staff also receive training in trafficking identification, immigration relief for survivors, and trauma informed practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Case Management

  • Provide comprehensive, trauma informed case management in Spanish and English for a caseload of approximately 23 survivors of trafficking.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, strengths and needs assessments, safety plans, crisis prevention plans, impact assessments, and individualized service plans with clients.
  • Recognize and respond to presentations of complex trauma, PTSD, dissociation, depression, anxiety, substance use, and other mental health concerns.
  • Conduct suicide and safety risk assessments, deescalate crises, and provide psychoeducation in plain, accessible language.
  • Identify when a client needs a higher level of care and coordinate that transition with psychiatric, therapeutic, and medical providers.
  • Use evidence based approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, harm reduction, and crisis intervention.

Resource Research and Advocacy

  • Research and identify resources for clients, including alternatives when standard options are unavailable or inaccessible.
  • Navigate benefits, housing, health, and legal systems on behalf of clients and follow up consistently until needs are resolved.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and share new resources with the team.
  • Provide mobile advocacy and accompaniment to court, appointments, benefits offices, and other settings as client needs require.
  • Coordinate with immigration attorneys, legal service providers, and law enforcement partners on matters such as T visa applications and certification.
  • Interpret for clients at appointments when needed, and review or prepare documents in Spanish.

Team, documentation, and compliance

  • Support the Referrals team with intakes, trafficking identification, crisis intervention, safety planning, accompaniment, and resource coordination.
  • Complete case notes and service documentation in a timely way and to the standards required by Restore's funders and government grants.
  • Contribute accurate data to outcome tracking and program reporting.
  • Participate in administrative and operational tasks that support quality servicedelivery.
  • Attend weekly individual or group clinical supervision, peer supervision, and required team meetings.
  • Practice culturally and linguistically responsive, survivor centered care in all interactions with clients, staff, partner organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Uphold HIPAA requirements and the ethical standards of your profession (NASW, ACA, and APA).

Requirements

  • Affirm the Nicene Creed and attend a Christian church
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling (MSW, LMSW, or MHC)
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, including the ability to interpret and work with documents in both languages
  • Working knowledge of trauma, PTSD, and mental illness, and how they show up in daily functioning, relationships, and engagement with services
  • Ability to assess risk, respond to crisis, and recognize when a client needs a higher level of care
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and persistence in identifying and securing resources for clients
  • Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities and ability to prioritize client needs
  • Excellent relational skills and genuine engagement with survivors
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including resilience, adaptability, empathy, humility, active listening, collaboration, and problem solving
  • Strong computer, organizational, and documentation skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to travel across New York City for mobile advocacy and accompaniment

Experience

Required

  • Experience conducting biopsychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, resource coordination, and case management
  • Experience working with individuals impacted by trauma, including those with PTSD or other mental health diagnoses
  • Experience working with immigrants and/or others navigating systemic challenges

Preferred

  • Experience working with survivors of trafficking, gender based violence, or sexual violence
  • Familiarity with immigration relief for survivors (such as T visas and Continued Presence) and with the legal and law enforcement systems survivors encounter. Training is provided, so this is not required to apply.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate:

  • Is persistent and creative in identifying resources and resolving barriers for clients
  • Is thorough in researching programs, eligibility requirements, and service options
  • Remains effective when progress is gradual or circumstances are uncertain
  • Maintains clear professional boundaries and practices consistent self care
  • Respects client autonomy and self determination, including when a client makes a choice the case manager would not make
  • Approaches survivors without judgment regarding their history, including sex work, labor exploitation, substance use, or involvement with the legal system

Compensation

The salary range is $67,000 -72,000. Restore provides a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k), HSA/FSA, 15 vacation days, four spiritual retreat days, unlimited sick days, parental leave, a flex-time policy, major medical, vision, dental, life and disability insurance, and commuter benefits.

This is a full time position requiring at least 35 hours per week. Shifts are generally Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 (lunch hour included), but may vary to accommodate organization and client scheduling.
