PM–7:30 AM
Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate and dependable Behavioral Health Technician to join the founding team at our new residential treatment facility in Rochester Hills, Michigan. BHTs keep patients safe, engaged, and supported throughout the day, spending more time with patients than almost anyone on the treatment team.
This role is for someone who stays calm under pressure, builds rapport easily, and wants hands-on experience in substance use and mental health treatment.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Safety & Support
- Supervise patients and living areas, completing scheduled safety checks throughout the shift.
- Respond to crises using de-escalation techniques and suicide-safety procedures.
- Call nursing staff when patients need medical attention and report concerns to the treatment team.
- Offer emotional support, refer clinical issues to therapy staff, and document patient behavior accurately.
Clinical & Program Support
- Take vital signs and complete urine drug screens and pregnancy tests per company policy.
- Supervise self-administration of medication per physician orders.
- Coordinate group and recreational activities and transport patients when assigned driving duties.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to stay professional, empathetic, and composed in high-stress or crisis situations.
- Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
- If assigned driving duties: valid driver's license, Banyan's Qualified Driver Criteria
(driving record and insurance eligibility), and completion of the Driver's Safety Course.
Preferred
- Associate's degree or higher.
- 1 or more years of experience in SUD/MH treatment, behavioral healthcare, or health care.
- Experience across levels of care (e. g., detox, residential, PHP).
- Certification in addiction counseling or a related field (e. g., CAC, CADC, CBHT, CPRS), CNA, or other relevant healthcare certification.
- Basic EMR and MAR experience.
- Personal or professional familiarity with the local recovery community.
