Nurse Practitioner Express Care - $7,500 Sign-On Bonus

Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing primary care or specialty care services to patients. The Nurse Practitioner performs assessments, diagnoses and prescriptions of medical therapeutic corrective measures in collaboration with a physician in all clinical venues. The Nurse Practitioner participates as a member of the healthcare team, engages patients, families, and caregivers in coordination of patient care.

Minimum Requirements

Education

1. Graduate of accredited Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner programs

Experience

1. Three years of professional nursing experience in a clinical setting.

2. Two years of nurse practitioner experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

1. Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing theory, medical practice and care protocols.

2. Knowledge of patient health assessments, medication administration and delivering care following a treatment plan. Demonstrates skill in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care.

3. Demonstrates skill in gathering, analyzing patient data and interprets findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records utilizing computer software.

4. Knowledge of physician office procedures, medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, procedures, prescribed medical standards and common safety hazards and precautions.

5. Conducts business in a fast paced, stressful, high traffic medical office.

May be exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, bodily fluids and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

6. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrates the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

License/Certification/Registration

1. State of Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.

2. Registered Nurse Practitioner Certification.

3. Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.

4. Registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for authorization to prescribe controlled substances.

5. Board Certified, Recertified or eligible by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

6. Prescriptive Authority

7. Obtain and maintain appointment and/or reappointment to the appropriate category of medical staff or advanced practice provider staff membership on the Medical Staff of Mount Nittany Medical Center, and maintain compliance with credentialing processes and applicable policies of the Medical Staff of Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Receives general supervision from the Physician / Practice Manager.
