Position Overview: The Dental Hygienist provides comprehensive dental hygiene services to Native American and Alaska Native patients and other vulnerable populations. What you will do: Provide patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse. Take and expose dental x-rays. Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth Apply preventive materials to the teeth (e. g., sealants, fluoride, silver diamine fluoride) Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e. g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling) Perform documentation and office management activities as assigned. Administer topical and local anesthesia. Provide clinical services for mentally ill and/or drug affected/recovering patients.

Qualifications

We would like to hear from people that have: Two years’ experience as a registered dental hygienist preferred. Associate or bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid license to practice dental hygiene issued by the State of Oregon. Oregon dental hygiene license must include, or can obtain, a local anesthesia permit; current Healthcare Provider CPR certification or the ability to obtain the certification. Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests. Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.
