Equine Veterinarian | Full-Time Hour Equivalent

Lebanon, OH

A Different Kind of Equine Emergency Schedule!

Love equine emergency medicine but don't want to spend every overnight sitting inside a hospital?

Lebanon Equine Clinic is seeking a Weekend/Overnight Equine Emergency Veterinarian to provide dedicated after-hours coverage for our established equine community. Our greatest need is weekend emergency coverage, with the potential for additional weeknight, holiday, and PTO coverage depending on interest and availability.

This is an on-call-from-home, ambulatory position — not an overnight hospital shift. You'll have the autonomy to triage cases, respond to field emergencies when needed, and provide critical after-hours care while becoming part of one of the region's most established equine practices!

About Lebanon Equine Clinic

For more than 65 years, Lebanon Equine Clinic has served the equestrian community of Warren County and beyond, growing into one of the largest equine practices in the region.

We're an equine-exclusive practice with an established client base, experienced multi-doctor team, strong support staff, and a commitment to high-quality medicine. Our doctors have access to advanced diagnostics including digital radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy, along with progressive therapies including regenerative medicine and biologics.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At Lebanon Equine Clinic, our doctors enjoy a competitive base salary with monthly production compensation and no negative accrual, meaning you will never owe money back if production fluctuates. This structure rewards growth, efficiency, and strong medicine — offering true unlimited earning potential.

What Makes This Opportunity Stand Out

  • Tailored Sign-On Bonus + No Negative Accrual
  • Established, equine-exclusive practice with a loyal, long-standing client base
  • Equine-exclusive medicine
  • Experienced, collaborative multi-doctor team
  • Digital radiography, ultrasound, and endoscopy
  • Regenerative therapies and biologics
  • Strong clinical autonomy
  • Support and resources through the broader Community Veterinary Partners network
  • Opportunity to focus your career around equine emergency medicine without a traditional daytime GP schedule.

What the Role Looks Like

Our overnight on-call coverage runs approximately 5:00 PM–8:00 AM, with our greatest need centered around weekends.

The weekend schedule will be structured around coverage from Friday evening through Monday morning, with flexibility to determine how that block is divided to create a sustainable schedule for the right veterinarian. There may also be opportunities to provide additional coverage for select weeknights, holidays, or extended PTO needs.

Most importantly, you won't be sitting in the hospital waiting for a case to arrive. You'll remain at home while on call and respond when an emergency requires an ambulatory visit.

Emergency volume varies — some nights may have no calls, while others can be significantly busier. Cases are initially triaged by phone, and not every call results in a farm visit.

The Medicine

This role is focused on field-based equine emergency medicine, with common after-hours cases including: Colic, Lacerations and wounds, Choke, Down horses, Suspected fractures, Ocular emergencies, Other acute illnesses and injuries requiring after-hours assessment

You'll be responsible for triage, assessment, stabilization, treatment, client communication, and determining the appropriate next step for the patient.

Lebanon Equine does not maintain hospitalized patients overnight. Horses requiring hospitalization or advanced referral-level care are directed to an appropriate referral facility, including The Ohio State University or Rood & Riddle when appropriate.

Who We're Looking For

Because this position is focused on independent after-hours field coverage, we're looking for a veterinarian who is comfortable:

  • Practicing equine emergency medicine independently
  • Assessing and triaging emergency cases
  • Making confident clinical decisions in the field
  • Stabilizing patients and determining when referral is appropriate
  • Communicating clearly and compassionately with owners during stressful situations
  • Working independently without an overnight technician
  • Managing an ambulatory emergency caseload and the unpredictability that comes with it

You'll be the responding veterinarian during your coverage period, so clinical confidence, sound judgment, and comfort working autonomously are important for this role.
