Job Description
Job Details: Job Location: Hillside Inc - Atlanta, GA, Position Type: Contractor, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Category: Health Care, PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide psychiatric assessment and management of youth enrolled in Hillside’s PRTF, Partial Hospitalization Program, and Virtual Intensive Outpatient Programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate and support program directors of assigned program with routine and emergency program operations and interventions. Complete admission intake assessments and orders on assigned patients.
Provide psychiatric care (including but not limited to prescription and management of psychotropic medications, communication with guardians, and discharge planning) and corresponding documentation to youth in assigned program.
Provide clinical supervision/consultation to Treatment staff on assigned treatment program, as needed. Provide input for and participate in weekly treatment planning meetings on assigned patients. Attend Staffings (internal and external) as indicated on assigned cases.
Conduct peer-to-peer reviews with care management organizations/insurance companies for continued treatment authorizations. Complete accurate and timely reports, attend assigned meetings, and convene meetings as needed and directed by the Medical Director and VP of Residential Operations & Clinical Services.
Assist the program director in the approval of program referrals and admissions. Support Hillside’s commitment to workforce development, including supervision of child and adolescent fellows, medical students, and other trainees, as well as participation in training and mentorship activities, as needed.

Examples include: screening and assessment for: risky, harmful or dependent use of substances; cognitive impairment; mental health problems; behaviors that compromise health; harm to self or others; and abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.
Care Planning & Coordination The ability to create and implement integrated care plans, ensuring access to an array of linked services, and the exchange of information among consumers, family members, and providers.
Examples include: assisting in the development of care plans, whole health, and wellness recovery plans; matching the type and intensity of services to consumers’ needs; providing patient navigation services; and implementing disease management programs.
Intervention The ability to provide a range of brief, focused prevention, treatment and recovery services, as well as longer-term treatment and support for consumers with persistent illnesses.
Examples include: motivational interventions, health promotion and wellness services, health education, crisis intervention, brief treatments for mental health and substance use problems, and medication assisted treatments.
Cultural Competence & Adaptation The ability to provide services that are relevant to the culture of the consumer and their family.
Examples include: identifying and addressing disparities in healthcare access and quality, adapting services to language preferences and cultural norms, and promoting diversity among the providers working in interprofessional teams.
Practice-Based Learning & Quality Improvement The ability to assess and continually improve the services delivered as an individual provider and as an interprofessional team.
Examples include: identifying and implementing evidence-based practices, assessing treatment fidelity, measuring consumer satisfaction and healthcare outcomes, recognizing and rapidly addressing errors in care, and collaborating with other team members on service improvement.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: M.D. and must be board eligible in Psychiatry in the State of Georgia. EXPERIENCE: Three years in Child and Adolescent mental health OR be Board Eligible for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the State of Georgia. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must submit to an annual physical exam.
Some tasks may require exposure to blood, tissue or bodily fluids. MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENT: Must not have a record of felony or misdemeanor convictions. SUPERVISION GIVEN: None SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Guided by verbal and written instructions, policies and procedures and well-established guidelines.
Work Schedule
This is an executive position and work hours/days may vary as business dictates. May be subjected to being “paged”/ contacted during off duty time.
Key Responsibilities
The psychiatrist will provide psychiatric assessment, medication management, and clinical supervision for youth in residential and outpatient programs. They will also collaborate with program directors, participate in treatment planning, and conduct peer-to-peer reviews for insurance authorizations.
Requirements
Candidates must hold an M.D. and be board eligible in Psychiatry in the State of Georgia. Additionally, they must have three years of experience in child and adolescent mental health or be board eligible for child and adolescent psychiatry.
