Surgical Counselor

Key Responsibilities

The Surgical Counselor will counsel and educate patients on surgery and lens options, manage scheduling, handle insurance pre-certifications, discuss implant options and fees, and collect payments. Responsibilities also include administrative tasks like creating H&Ps, obtaining necessary clearances, and communicating operative notes to referring optometrists.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience in a medical office setting, with prior surgical counseling experience preferred. Required competencies include knowledge of insurance policies, strong sales ability, attention to detail, computer proficiency, and excellent interpersonal skills, with bilingual Spanish being a preference.
