Speech Pathologist

Job DetailsJob Location: PC Fort Lauderdale - Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334Purpose The Speech Language Pathologist is a licensed professional concerned with the evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders.

They diagnose and evaluate speech problems, such as fluency (stuttering), articulation, voice disorders as well as language problems in the areas of expressive and receptive language and pragmatics. Speech Language Pathologists also serve as a liaison between teachers and the Learning Network Department.

Essential Job Functions Supports the School’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook Completes articulation screenings for all kindergarten and new students entering first through fifth grade Completes screenings, evaluations, and reports in a timely fashion Works collaboratively with parents, teacher, and Learning Network team to implement carryover skills Participates in ongoing training and follow-up in the use of assessment tools and therapy strategies Participates in parent conferences, when requested and appropriate, and provide therapeutic suggestions and a home program Stays informed of current trends and issues in speech-language therapy and assessments Creates and carries out an individualized treatment plan Maintains current SOAP notes and data Demonstrates considerable knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective speech and language therapy and evaluation Demonstrates the ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written communication and interact effectively with staff, parents, students and the school community Demonstrates a working knowledge of the English language in written and verbal content; demonstrate the responsibility for own professional growth by seeking and requesting continuing education and training programs Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee
