Supervised Visitation Monitor

Job Descriptions/Duties

The Supervised Visitation Monitor provides oversight of contact between children and visiting family members in accordance with program policies, visitation agreements, and court orders. This role supports safe, structured, and respectful supervised visitation services for families who have been court ordered to supervised visitation.

The monitor's role is to observe, document, facilitate, and intervene when necessary to support child safety and program standards. This position does not provide therapy or legal services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Supervised Visitation Monitor shall:

Ensure that contact between parties proceeds in accordance with the visitation agreement, court order and program policies

Relay relevant information relating to the child's welfare between the custodian and visitor at the beginning and conclusion of supervised contact, as appropriate

  • Observe and document visits in an objective manner consistent with program policies
  • Intervene, when necessary and appropriate, to ensure the welfare of the child(ren)
  • Terminate a visit if the safety of the child(ren), other participants, or staff cannot be maintained
  • Maintain accurate records of visits, services provided, and critical incidents
  • Follow all program policies and procedures in the delivery of supervised visitation services

Attend Required Pre-service and In-service Trainings

  • May complete the screening/intake process with the non-custodial parent for appropriateness of the program
  • Participate in regular supervision

Professional Conduct Expectations

  • Program personnel are expected to maintain high standards of conduct. The monitor is expected to:
  • Adhere diligently to program policies and procedures
  • Resist influences that interfere with impartial monitoring
  • Report honestly and impartially regarding events that occur during services
  • Respect the privacy of children and families
  • Maintain confidentiality as required by law, court order, and program policy
  • Decline cases involving an actual or potential conflict of interest

Refrain from discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, marital status, political belief, mental or physical disability, or other personal characteristic, condition, or status

Comply with all required protections of confidentiality, including protections for victims of domestic violence

Understand that violation of confidentiality or program conduct standards may result in disciplinary action, termination, or legal action

Skills and Experience We Value

One year experience working with youth populations, particularly working with families and children with developmental, behavioral, medical, and/or mental health concerns preferred.

Knowledge of services, programs, and resources available in Stark County to assist families in meeting the challenges of their children including those with special needs.

Ability to work effectively with other professionals and different disciplines, both within and outside the mental health profession, to meet the various needs of children.

Must possess skills to conceptualize client/system needs and recommend appropriate services. Training and experience that is "trauma-informed" as well as background/knowledge of programs pertaining to youth populations are valuable.

Must have excellent communication skills and be able to function well as a team member.

Must be culturally competent and willing to work with clients and families within various and diverse populations.

Required Qualifications

Ÿ Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Education, Family Services, or related field.

OR

Ÿ Associate degrees or high school diploma with a minimum of 3 years' experience working with youth and family populations.

Ÿ Must have valid driver's license and own transportation.

Stark County Locations

We have four locations in Stark County including downtown Canton, Belden Village, Alliance and Plain Township. This position is primarily in the community, and can also be out of the Belden, or Plain offices.

Compensation: $18.00/hourly

Hours: Part-time. Some evening hours, or weekends required.
