Job Description
Administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Maintains patient charts, noting such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Consults with radiation oncologists and other clinical staff as needed.
Additional Job Description
Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and registry eligible with ARRT. Certification: After ARRT certification is obtained, licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) is required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required

Key Responsibilities
The Radiation Therapist administers prescribed doses of ionizing radiation to patients under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate patient charts, documenting treatment areas, dosages, and patient reactions.
Requirements
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Radiation Therapy program and be registry eligible with the ARRT. Additionally, they must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and obtain SCRQSA licensure upon ARRT certification.
