The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine (SSVM) at Rowan University is seeking an experienced Veterinary Cardiologist to join our growing Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Full-time and part-time appointments will be considered, offering flexibility for candidates seeking a clinical, academic, or blended professional role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and thriving Cardiology Service within one of the nation's newest veterinary schools. The successful candidate will become part of an active specialty practice with a growing clinical caseload while contributing to the continued development of SSVM's clinical education mission.

As an additional member of the Cardiology Service, you will provide advanced cardiovascular care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, and play an important role in educating future veterinarians while helping shape the culture and academic mission of a new veterinary program.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive veterinary cardiology services within the SSVM Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital while contributing to clinical teaching, student mentorship, and continued service excellence.

The Cardiology Service is actively seeing patients and has established clinical workflows, referral relationships, and hospital support systems. The successful candidate will join a functioning specialty service with the opportunity to expand clinical capabilities, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the program.

The Cardiology Service is supported by a multidisciplinary Veterinary Medical

Teaching Hospital equipped with:

  • Clinical pathology support
  • On-site pharmacy
  • Anesthesia and pain management support

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive cardiology consultation and treatment for companion animal patients
  • Perform advanced cardiovascular diagnostics and procedures
  • Collaborate with primary care and specialty clinicians to provide integrated patient care
  • Support communication and relationships with referring veterinarians
  • Participate in clinical teaching and mentorship of veterinary students, interns, residents, and veterinary technology students
  • Contribute to cardiology curriculum development and clinical skills training
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service development

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
  • Completion of a cardiology residency training program
  • Board certification or board eligibility through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) Cardiology or equivalent
  • Eligibility for veterinary licensure in New Jersey
  • Demonstrated expertise in companion animal cardiology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary specialty hospital
  • Strong interest in clinical teaching and mentorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching, mentoring, or academic experience
  • Interest in veterinary cardiology education
  • Interest in clinical research or scholarly activity

Salary and Benefits

In accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act, the anticipated salary range for this position is $150,000–$200,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications, experience, clinical expertise, academic rank, appointment track, and appointment percentage. Final salary will be determined at the time of offer.

Faculty at Rowan University are represented by the AAUP and receive a comprehensive benefits package in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and State of New Jersey benefit programs. Benefits eligibility is based on appointment percentage and applicable University policies.

Candidates must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and have completed a cardiology residency training program. Board certification or eligibility through the ACVIM is required, along with eligibility for veterinary licensure in New Jersey.
