Overview

The Role

The Sr. Medical Director is responsible for providing medical, scientific, and strategic leadership across assigned brands and accounts. This individual serves as a senior medical partner to clients and cross-functional teams, ensuring that all communications are scientifically accurate, strategically aligned, and clinically relevant.

The Sr. Medical Director translates complex clinical data, disease-state information, and treatment landscapes into compelling and actionable recommendations that inform brand strategy and creative development. Working closely with Account, Strategy, Creative, Editorial, Experience, and MLR teams, this person helps drive high-quality healthcare communications that resonate with healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and other key audiences.

In addition to leading medical strategy, the Sr. Medical Director mentors junior medical team members, contributes to business development opportunities, and serves as a trusted advisor to both clients and internal stakeholders

Provide senior-level medical, scientific, and strategic leadership across assigned brands and accounts

Serve as a trusted medical advisor to clients, helping guide brand strategy and identify opportunities for growth

Translate clinical data, scientific literature, and competitive intelligence into actionable business recommendations

  • Lead medical input into brand planning, positioning, messaging, and content strategy initiatives
  • Ensure scientific accuracy, medical integrity, and compliance across all agency deliverables
  • Review and approve promotional and educational materials for healthcare professional and patient audiences
  • Partner closely with MLR teams to facilitate efficient review processes and resolve scientific or regulatory challenges
  • Lead interactions with key opinion leaders, investigators, and healthcare provider experts
  • Mentor and develop scientific directors, medical directors, and other members of the medical team
  • Contribute to new business opportunities, pitches, and agency thought leadership initiatives
  • Stay current on emerging clinical data, treatment guidelines, and industry trends

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree required (MD, PharmD, PhD, DO, DNP, or equivalent)
  • 8+ years of healthcare communications, pharmaceutical advertising, medical education, or related experience
  • Significant agency experience supporting pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, rare disease, neuroscience, cardiovascular, respiratory, or metabolic disorders
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and Medical/Legal/Regulatory review processes
  • Proven ability to translate scientific complexity into clear strategic recommendations
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Experience building trusted client relationships and leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and scientific rigor

Compensation Range

USD $106,780.00 - USD $170,937.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting.

Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.

Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
