Associate Mental Health Counselor

As an associate mental health counselor, you’ll be part of a licensed, compassionate team that offers a range of confidential services to help students navigate challenges and thrive, including individual and group counseling, skill-building workshops, and outreach programs. You'll also regularly consult with academic departments, SCADhome (residence life and housing), the office of the registrar, academic administration, admission, and other internal departments regarding student-centered mental health issues.

To Support the Office of Mental Health, You’ll

• Conduct assigned individual and group counseling sessions

• Maintain an active caseload of students with counseling needs

• Provide students with community referrals and supervision for clinical trainees

• Attend weekly case conferences and participate in quarterly student orientations

• Develop outreach and psychoeducational programs/presentations

As an Associate Mental Health Counselor, You’ll

• Promptly document contact with students in the computerized documentation system (Titanium)

• Conduct crisis intervention with students, including on-call duties

• Maintain a personal schedule in the master schedule and Titanium

• Inform your supervisor of personal staff development needs and participate in department performance improvement initiatives

• Prepare performance reviews for supervisor signatures and approvals

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in counseling and higher education environments

• Experience and credentials as a clinical supervisor

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

• Licensed in a mental health or counseling field or able to obtain license within at least two years

• Clinical licensure in counseling, psychology, social work, or license eligible

Travel Required

• Less than 10%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a. m. to 5:30 p. m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
