Job Description

The ideal candidate is experienced and passionate about delivering quality care to patients with conditions or injury to the upper extremity. Experience with advanced treatment and orthotic fabrication in hand setting preferred. Our ideal candidate is either a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist.

Essential Functions

Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationship with appropriate interpersonal boundaries

Manages patient care by first completing an evaluation, establishing a treatment plan with objective and measurable goals (outcomes), and provide direct intervention or supervision of care

Performs therapeutic procedures (exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, gait, massage, manual therapy, orthotic fitting and training, dynamic activities, compression garments)

Promotes Patient and Family Rights to Self-determination

  • Assists family to integrate the medical, social emotional, and family dynamics of the condition into the context of their life situation
  • Adjusts patient care schedule and prioritizes tasks as indicated
  • Performs documentation per policy and procedures (evaluation, progress notes, discharge summary, and multi-disciplinary education and treatment plans)
  • Performs patient and family education regarding interventions, disease/injury, safety, and wellness

Other Functions

  • Participates in continuing education, departmental meetings, and in-service programs
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Job Description

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

  • BS/MS/DPT degree in physical therapy or occupational therapy required.
  • Valid Kentucky State Board PT or OT License

Certification

  • CPR, BLS through the American Heart Association.

Experience (required and preferred):

  • Experience or interest in developing hand therapy skills preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The hand therapist will evaluate patients with upper extremity injuries and develop personalized treatment plans with measurable goals. They will perform direct interventions, including manual therapy and orthotic fabrication, while maintaining accurate clinical documentation.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a BS, MS, or DPT degree in physical therapy or occupational therapy and possess a valid Kentucky state license. Experience in hand therapy and orthotic fabrication is preferred, along with current CPR and BLS certification.
