Radiology Technologist - St. Rita's Medical Center

Job Summary

The Radiological Technologist is a certified health professional who, under the
direction of an authorized user, is committed to applying the art and skill of
diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation, in
diagnostic radiology.            

Essential Functions

  • Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring
  • Positions and immobilizes patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient,
  • Performs radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging
  • Verifies informed consent and completes pre and post procedure
  • Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography
  • Performs timeout as required per policy.
  • Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed

Education

* Associates from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
accredited institute (preferred)  

Required Licensing & Certifications

* Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required) 
* State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is
being performed)
* BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for
Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to
independent patient care at BSMH)

Experience

* 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)
* Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)

The Radiological Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using ionizing radiation while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Responsibilities include obtaining clinical histories, positioning patients, and assisting licensed practitioners with specialized radiography and fluoroscopic procedures.

Requirements

Candidates must be ARRT certified and registered in Diagnostic Radiology, with BLS certification required. An associate degree from an ARRT accredited institute and one year of experience in radiation safety are preferred.
