The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing individualized rehabilitative programs designed to help residents regain, maintain, or improve their ability to perform daily living, vocational, and homemaking activities. What You’ll Do as an LVMG Occupational Therapist: Conduct structured patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Provide individual and group therapy to enhance cognitive, physical, and psychosocial functioning. Continuously assess treatment effectiveness, monitor resident progress, and adjust interventions as appropriate. Complete evaluations, progress notes, and treatment documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Educate residents and families regarding therapy goals, progress, and strategies to support continued success. Communicate changes in resident condition to appropriate team members and participate in interdisciplinary care meetings as needed. Apply age-specific knowledge and best practices when developing and implementing treatment plans. Maintain therapy equipment and supplies while ensuring all appropriate safety standards are followed. Provide guidance and oversight to COTAs and students and serve as a resource and role model for clinical best practices. Support group activities and contribute to a positive, engaging, and therapeutic environment. Demonstrate professionalism when navigating challenging or stressful situations. Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and promote the efficient use of resources. Adhere to facility policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and stay current with best practices. Provide in-service education to team members as assigned. Perform additional duties as needed. Current Occupational Therapist license in Maryland. Previous experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels, including residents, staff, families, external vendors/authorities, and the public. Strong attention to detail in writing, proofreading, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating a cooperative, respectful, and compassionate approach to colleagues and resident care. Skilled in the use of standard office equipment and technology. Maintains professionalism, composure, and a positive attitude when managing challenging situations. Physically able to move throughout the workday and lift items up to 50 pounds; pushing/pulling 100 pounds using safe handling practices. May be necessary to assist with resident evacuation during emergency situations.
