PRN NURSE PRACTITIONER Psychiatric Residential

Bridges Treatment Center is Centra’s unlocked Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) serving Virginia children and adolescents ages 6–17 who need a higher level of behavioral health support than can be provided in an outpatient setting.

The program provides intensive residential treatment for youth with complex emotional, behavioral, developmental, and psychiatric needs. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner who can work PRN shifts as needed.

Bridges serves youth who have not responded adequately to outpatient treatment, have needs that cannot be met in a less restrictive environment, or require continued intensive treatment following an acute inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

The program emphasizes comprehensive, multidisciplinary care designed to support stabilization, treatment, development, and successful transition back into the community.

Responsibilities

• Minimal Work Requirement is 16 hours every 8 weeks.
• Provide primary and acute medical care for children and adolescents ages 6–17 in a residential behavioral health setting.
• Complete admission medical assessments, histories, and physical examinations.
• Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and minor injuries within the FNP scope of practice.
• Manage and monitor chronic medical conditions and ongoing healthcare needs.
• Order, review, and follow up on laboratory testing, diagnostic studies, and other clinical evaluations as appropriate.
• Prescribe and manage non-psychiatric medications within scope of practice.
• Provide preventive care, health screenings, immunization review, and age-appropriate health education.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Identify medical concerns requiring a higher level of care and coordinate referrals to specialists, primary care, urgent care, or emergency services as needed.
• Communicate with families/guardians and outside healthcare providers to support continuity of care.
• Complete timely clinical documentation and support discharge and follow-up planning for ongoing medical needs

Qualifications

• Masters or Doctorate degree as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
• Licensed and in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant required

• Provider experience working in Behavioral Health/Mental Health strongly desired
