Job Description

Periodontist — Full-Time

About Us

Arkansas Periodontic and Implant Associates is a specialty practice serving Fort Smith and the greater River Valley region. We provide comprehensive periodontal and dental implant care in a referral-based setting, working closely with general dentists across western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. Our focus is predictable outcomes, strong referral relationships, and a practice culture that supports clinicians rather than pushing volume.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat periodontal disease across the full spectrum of severity, including nonsurgical therapy, osseous surgery, and periodontal maintenance protocols
  • Place and restore dental implants, including single-unit, multi-unit, and full-arch implant rehabilitation
  • Perform advanced surgical procedures: guided bone regeneration, sinus augmentation, ridge preservation and augmentation, soft tissue and connective tissue grafting, crown lengthening, and frenectomy
  • Interpret CBCT imaging and plan guided implant surgery
  • Administer local anesthesia and [IV/oral conscious] sedation in accordance with Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners requirements
  • Manage surgical complications and provide appropriate postoperative care
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with area general dentists, including case consultation and follow-up communication
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in treatment planning with restorative colleagues
  • Supervise and mentor clinical support staff

Qualifications

Required

  • DDS or DMD from a CODA-accredited dental school
  • Certificate of completion from a CODA-accredited periodontics residency program
  • Active Arkansas dental license, or eligibility to obtain one prior to start date
  • Current DEA registration
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred
  • Malpractice insurability

Preferred

  • Board certification or active board eligibility with the American Board of Periodontology
  • Arkansas sedation permit, or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with full-arch implant protocols and digital/guided surgical workflows
  • Strong communication skills with referring providers and patients

Schedule and Compensation

  • 3 clinical days per week, Tuesday-Thursday 8:00 a. m. - 4:00 p. m.
  • Compensation: commensurate with experience

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Malpractice coverage
  • Continuing education allowance
  • Reimbursement for licensure, DEA, and professional dues
  • Relocation assistance and/or signing bonus available
