What You'll Do
As a Respiratory Therapist, you'll provide exceptional respiratory care while working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals throughout the hospital.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders
Administering oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and other respiratory treatments
Managing and monitoring mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation
Responding to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Rapid Response events
Performing diagnostic testing such as arterial blood gas sampling, pulse oximetry, and pulmonary function testing (as applicable)
Collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
Documenting patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
Educating patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and home care equipment
Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and respiratory care best practices
What We're Looking For
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required
Current BLS Certification required
ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred or obtained according to department requirements
Excellent critical thinking, communication, and assessment skills
Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced and emergency situations
