Position Summary
The Weight Loss Specialty Dietitian is a Registered Dietitian responsible for delivering comprehensive nutrition assessments, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy, and developing individualized nutrition prescriptions based on clinical diagnoses.
This role involves ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and reassessment of patient progress within both medical weight loss and bariatric surgery programs. The Dietitian will manage a dedicated patient panel, conducting regular pre- and post-operative appointments as well as medical weight loss consultations.
Key responsibilities include providing dietary education, promoting behavioral modifications, and recommending sustainable lifestyle strategies.
Additional duties include reviewing laboratory results, addressing micronutrient deficiencies, identifying nutrient-drug interactions, and advising on appropriate dietary supplementation.
This professional role requires close collaboration within a multidisciplinary team and coordination of care with bariatric surgeons, bariatricians, and referring physicians.
The position also involves facilitating referrals to interdisciplinary resources such as behavioral counseling, eating disorder clinics, pharmaceutical support programs, iron infusion services, and plastic surgery for skin removal.
Success in this role demands a high level of clinical expertise, passion, and resourcefulness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food & Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field; Master’s preferred (MS, MA)
- Completion of an ACEND-accredited dietetic program and internship
- Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and in good standing
- Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) or obtain one prior to employment start date
- Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Certified Dietitian in the state of Washington
- Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM) preferred
- Inpatient or outpatient clinical nutrition experience providing medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process preferred
- Prior experience with adult and adolescent obesity preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $31.32 - $45.09 USD.
However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
