Job Location: Hudson County Correctional & Rehabilitation Center - Kearny, NJ, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $135000.00 - $135000.00Salary/year, Job Shift: Day, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Position Summary: Supports and assists the Director of Nursing in administering and leading the nursing program of the medical unit to maintain high standards of patient care.
Advises and collaborates with medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing services, while providing day-to-day leadership for nursing staff operations.
Skills / Abilities: Leadership and team building Clinical and medical expertise Regulatory and compliance knowledge Strong communication skills Problem solving and critical thinking Organizational and operational skills Crisis and risk management Duties / Responsibilities: Assists the Director of Nursing in creating, implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures, and practices relevant to nursing care within the medical unit.
Helps set departmental goals, establish priorities, and allocate resources to ensure effective nursing operations. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as institutional standards, policies, and practices.
Provides leadership support to the Director of Nursing and Health Care Administrator in setting the direction and goals of the medical unit. Supervises assigned nursing personnel, including scheduling, delegating assignments, monitoring performance, and assisting with training, coaching, and corrective actions.
Recommends and assists in implementing new or revised policies, procedures, or practices to improve nursing services. Participates in staff meetings, contributing input and facilitating communication between leadership and nursing staff.
Acts as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance, consultation, and support to ensure effective patient care. Serves as acting Director of Nursing in their absence. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in nursing leadership. Adheres to infection control policies, medication administration procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Participates in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Completes required orientation and continuing education as directed by the facility. Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures. Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations. Maintains punctuality and reliability for assigned shifts. Preserves required security clearance for the assigned facility.

The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Must hold a current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Active hands-on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification. Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
