About the Role
As a Respiratory Therapist based in Hoboken, you will play a critical role in assessing, treating, and caring for patients of all ages with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes by providing respiratory care through various therapeutic techniques and equipment management. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
This role demands a compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring comfort and safety while delivering high-quality respiratory therapy services. Ultimately, your work will contribute to improving patients' respiratory function and overall quality of life within a dynamic healthcare environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current and valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of New Jersey.
- Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Demonstrated clinical experience in respiratory care within a hospital or acute care setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related healthcare field.
- Experience working in critical care, neonatal, or pediatric respiratory therapy.
- Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and respiratory care documentation software.
- Strong background in patient education and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Assesses plans, administers, and evaluates patients receiving all respiratory care modalities as ordered by a physician or as delineated by medical center protocols.
- Responsible for the delivery of respiratory care services to the in-patient, and emergency room population.
- Evaluate patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans based on physician orders and clinical assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and participate in clinical rounds and case discussions.
- Provides emergency, critical care, and general care respiratory services to patients of all ages.
- Meeting with and examining patients who have pulmonary diseases, disorders, or complications
- Conducting, performing, and analyzing diagnostic and function tests to assess lung capacity and capability
- Working with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans
- Treating patients with aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy
- Administering inhalants
- Operating mechanical ventilators and other machines
- Training patients how to administer treatments and use equipment on their own
- Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation support.
- Monitor and document patient responses to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
- Operate and maintain respiratory care equipment, ensuring all devices are functioning safely and effectively.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques, disease management, and use of home respiratory equipment.
- Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies, intibating and provide critical care support as needed.
- Other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements
Candidates must hold an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy and possess a valid New Jersey license. Required certifications include RRT, BLS, and ACLS, along with clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
