Financial Incentive Programs & Benefits

As a Federally Qualified Health Center serving a Health Professional Shortage Area, NeighborHealth Center qualifies for financial incentive programs that can significantly supplement behavioral health provider compensation. Providers with educational loan debt may be eligible for the federal National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program of up to $50,000 tax-free over two years.

NeighborHealth offers competitive compensation, productivity incentives, employer-paid malpractice insurance, generous PTO and holidays totaling more than 7 weeks annually, dedicated CME time and allowance, and Epic with Abridge AI documentation.

Position Summary

The Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician (BHC) is an embedded member of the interdisciplinary primary care team who provides brief assessment, consultation, evidence-based interventions, and care coordination to improve the behavioral, physical, and social health of patients across the lifespan.

The BHC works collaboratively with primary care clinicians to deliver accessible, population-based behavioral health services using a whole-person, team-based model of care.? This role is an on-site position.

An on-site 340B pharmacy opening in Fall 2026 and additional Raleigh-area locations planned beginning in 2027 reflect NeighborHealth's continued growth.

Requirements

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Provides whole-person care that intentionally integrates physical, behavioral, social, and spiritual care, including prayer when welcomed by the patient, consistent with NeighborHealth's mission and practice policies.

Demonstrates Christ-like compassion, humility, integrity, and respect, and faithfully represents NeighborHealth's mission in every patient encounter.

Provide on-demand in-person integrated care consults to a diverse patient population in a fast-paced health center setting in collaboration with medical care team. Population can include pediatrics, family practice, geriatrics and/or prenatal patients. Consults provided from a biopsychosocial-spiritual framework. Services include screenings, support, brief interventions, and referrals as deemed appropriate.

Provide psychoeducational information as appropriate for patients and/or family members or accompanying caregivers.

  • Contribute to the growth of the behavioral health department at NHC.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with related psychopharmacology.

Develop and maintain familiarity with behavioral components of physician health diagnosis (e. g., diabetes, hypertension, obesity, tobacco use, insomnia, chronic pain, medication adherence).

  • Collaborate alongside behavioral health team to ensure holistic health care and support of medical team.
  • Provide training to staff as needed.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable about local and regional resources for mental health and substance abuse treatment, developing collaborative relationships where possible.
  • Participate in outreach educational activities in the community as needed.
  • Maintain a regular schedule and caseload at assigned clinic in collaboration with treatment team.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects as assigned.
  • Participate in all meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Utilize validated behavioral health screening and outcome measures (PHQ-9, GAD-7, PROMIS, PCL-5, etc.) to inform treatment planning, monitor patient progress, and support quality improvement initiatives.

Compliance and Documentation

Confirms patient identity according to current procedure before rendering any service.

Thoroughly, accurately, and promptly documents all services rendered in the electronic medical record for every patient.

Is knowledgeable of and in compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and HRSA regulations for safety, infection control, equipment operation, and other applicable areas.

Participates in proficiency testing as required by NHC or departmental policy to ensure that proper standards of care are being maintained.

Maintains confidentiality of patient health information in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities in accordance with the clinic's needs and mission.

Flexibility to adapt to changing or stressful conditions, including unanticipated schedule or location changes.

  • Computer literacy in internet use and Windows environment, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Required Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure/Registration
  • Master's Degree or PhD/PsyD in related Behavioral Health Field.

Current North Carolina clinical licensure required (LCSWA, LCMHCA, or equivalent accepted at the associate level); clinical supervision toward full independent licensure may be provided on-site.

Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral health practices and crisis assessment protocols, with the ability to identify risk and intervene appropriately in a fast-paced integrated care setting.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently as needed to perform essential job functions, including patient communication, documentation, and safety-related instructions.

Ability to work onsite Mondays through Fridays during the hours of 7:45 am and 5 pm, with flexibility as additional office hours are instituted.

For the occasional remote work, ability to work remotely via a home office setup with access to secure Internet connection.
