Job description

are seeking fee for service Outpatient Drug and Alcohol Therapist to join our
Adult Behavioral Health team in Pottsville, PA.

Schedule: Flexible fee‑for‑service schedule; weekday hours between 9:00 a. m. and
5:00 p. m. 

Earn $28-$40/hour

Position Details

Our outpatient therapists provide comprehensive therapeutic services to
individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Responsibilities include
conducting intake assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and
delivering ongoing therapy and supportive counseling. They monitor client
progress, participate in case consultations, and adjust treatment plans as
needed to ensure effective care. Accurate documentation and adherence to
Merakey, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW), and Pennsylvania
Department of Health (DOH) policies and confidentiality standards are essential.

Open positions in this county qualify for Pennsylvania’s Behavioral Health
Higher Education Program (BHHEP), which offers candidates meaningful financial
and career-building benefits. Through BHHEP, eligible students can receive a
paid senior‑year internship with Merakey and may also access tuition assistance
of up to $20,000 for bachelor’s programs or up to $40,000 for master’s programs,
all while gaining hands‑on experience that strengthens their skills and future
employability. Participants who pursue tuition assistance commit to two years of
post‑graduation employment with the same provider, creating a smooth transition

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications

* Master’s degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology,
Psychology, Addiction Studies, Social Work, or a related field with a
concentration in counseling is required.
* Minimum of one (1) year of counseling experience (at least 1,820 hours) in a
health or human services setting, preferably in a drug and alcohol treatment
environment.

* Candidates without prior experience in a drug and alcohol treatment setting
must provide a written training plan outlining development of competency in
chemical dependency counseling.
* Additional education or specialized training in human services or counseling
fields related to substance use treatment is strongly preferred.
* Professional licensure is preferred, including:
* Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
* Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
* Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive therapeutic services to individuals with substance use disorders, including conducting intake assessments and developing individualized treatment plans. Monitor client progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and organizational policies.
