Key Responsibilities
- Tests and evaluates patients for resting values, body composition, flexibility, muscle strength, muscle endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, and blood lipid profiles. Refers information to Dietician and Nursing Department for potential dietary modification.
- Develops initial evaluation information into written goals and exercise prescriptions for each deficit area choosing physical exercises and activities which will sustain interest and ensure continued participation.
- Reports verbally and/or in writing in conferences, staffing and other meetings to inform necessary personnel, insurance carriers and patients' families of patient testing, treatment, and progress.
- Provides individual counseling for specific fitness problem areas. Provides ongoing education and behavior modification to establish and reinforce the concept of wellness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education or Exercise Physiology required.
- Experience in health-related field and exercise leadership and programming is preferred.
- American College of Sports Medicine certification or other appropriate certification is preferred.
- Must maintain a good driving record under the Department of Motor Vehicles.
