Weekend Counselor

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: King Road - Malvern, PA, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: Graduate Degree, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Travel Percentage: None, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Health Care, Malvern Treatment Centers located in Malvern, PA is currently seeking a Full Time Counselor position to work 2/3 days during the week with an every other weekend obligation (with Monday-Friday during the non weekend weeks). The mission of the Counselor is to counsel patients regarding all aspects of their addiction. He or she must be an active member of the treatment team in the formulation of assessments, treatment plans, diagnostic summaries, progress notes, and continuing care planning. The Counselor will provide supportive individual counseling, conduct group therapy, and review clients at case conferences with other team members. He or she must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to provide these services to clients with chemical dependencies. The ideal candidate has a Master's degree or higher from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or other related field that includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. Other acceptable degrees and experience would be a Bachelor's degree in a related field with one year of clinical experience (minimum of 1820 hours) in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting, or an Associate's degree in a related field with two years of clinical experience (minimum of 1820 hours) in a health or human services agency. If a candidate’s experience did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, his or her written training plan must specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues. He or she must have full certification in this state as an Addictions Counselor and must be licensed in this state if a Registered Nurse (RN). In addition, he or she must be skilled in using Microsoft Office and must be able to function calmly in a crisis situation.
