Summary

The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide assessment and evidence-based care to individuals, families, and groups primarily in an outpatient setting. This individual will be part of a multidisciplinary Behavioral Health team that assesses and treats patients together.

The Behavioral Health programs and settings are designed to optimize communication and collaboration within the team. The team is additionally expected to collaborate and communicate well across the organization and with external organizations and the community.

Lincoln County Medical Center (LCMC) is a 25 bed, Critical Access Hospital located in Ruidoso, New Mexico providing general and acute healthcare services to the primary services areas of Lincoln and portions Otero County, including the Mescalero Apache Reservation.

LCMC operates medical clinics in Ruidoso, Hondo, Carrizozo, Capitan and Corona and a sliding scale dental clinic in Carrizozo to increase access to healthcare for all of Lincoln County.

LCMC offers specialty services often not found in a frontier environment, including obstetrical, cardiology, orthopedic and general surgery services. LCMC recently expanded its services to include hematology and oncology, to reduce our residents need to travel for these services.

LCMC manages the operations of Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services (LCEMS), which provides emergency medical services for over 5,000 square miles throughout Lincoln County

Responsibilities

*The Behavioral Health Clinician, as part of an integrated care team, identifies, triages, and manages patients with behavioral health problems. In addition, this individual will provide evidence-based psychotherapies, psychosocial skills training and patient education. This provider will develop behavioral health treatment plans customized for individual patients and target populations.

*Performs assessments and provides treatment to each patient assigned, including diagnosis; planning care; intervention (including therapy for patients/significant others, facilitating psychotherapy and educational groups.). The provider is expected to be well versed in evidence- based psychotherapy protocols (e. g., CBT, DBT, PMT). They should be comfortable working with youth, adults, couples, families and groups.

*Demonstrates the therapeutic core qualities of genuineness, empathy and positive regard when interacting with patients and significant others, according to generally accepted clinical practice.

*Keeps an accurate, complete and current status of documentation onto the patients chart.

*Conveys professional role model example for other staff through quality of own clinical practice; work habits; availing self to others as a consultant on clinical issues; attending ongoing internal and external professional development events.

*Performs other functions as required.
